[Best Method] Copper Plate Earthing Diagram & Price in 2022

Plate Earthing is the most trending earthing in house wiring. As we know that electrical earthing play an important role. In a previous article, we learned about electrical earthing and their type. So, as we see, the concept of earthing with a plate is the most trending way of electrical earthing.

Earthing Plate is the other name for copperplate earthing. In this article, we know about how to do Copper electrical earthing in the right way with the proper material and all other important information. A Copper earthing plate is very heavy and more costly.

When house wiring is done at home then it defends for safety yourself. So there we can use it as well, but if you want it to be less expensive then you can do it at less cost also, for which you have to take electrical components at cheap prices.

Plate earthing is used in very heavy places. Consider if the sky lighting is falling at your home then it destroys your whole home.

Therefore, if you want to save your house from being destroyed, then it is very important for you to do an earthing plate for it so that you will not see any damage from sky lightning.

Plate Earthing

Earthing Plate is a process in which you can protect your home from damage caused by sky lightning or any other electrical damage. Copper Plate Earthing mainly uses copper or iron, so that pit is given at a distance of 3 meters from the ground level.

By doing this, whatever sky lighting comes in contact with electricity, goes into the earthing with the help of that copper plate earthing. Therefore, due to the earthing plate, there is no damage to the house.

Copper electrical earthing is the best and strongest way of electrical earthing. If you are making a new home and now you are going to house wiring, make sure first of all complete the process of the earthing plate.

Copper Plate Earthing Material

Now we are trying to understand what are the important things or materials that we used in the copper earthing plate. Here we share the important useful things that we need before we do the copper earthing which are as follows:

Copper Plate: First of all we need a copper plate whose length is almost 1 feet height: and 1 feet breadth. The gauge of the copper plate is at least 2mm. In the market you can see a 4mm gauge, if you are using heavier instruments then you need 2 feet height: 2 feet breadth, and a 4mm gauge.

copper plate and strip

Copper Strip: You can use 1inch breadth + 4mm gauge in the copper strip. But in case you are using a 2*2 Copper Plate then you need to use a 4mm gauge.

The length of the copper strip depends upon your electrical earthing. If you are doing 3-meter earthing then you need a 5-meter length copper strip. That means you need a 2-meter advance copper strip.

Pit: Now you have done the pit on the earth. How much length you have done is almost equal to the electrical earthing. If you are doing nearly 10 feet of the pit on earth then it is the right size of the electrical earthing in the right way.

Coal: Coal is a very important material that is used in copper plate earthing. Coal is used equally with salt. After mixing the coal and salt.

Salt: Also need the salt for it and after that mix the coal and salt. But remember the coal breaks in the powder format. So, you can use about 5 Kg Salt.

How to do Plate Earthing

A Copper earthing plate is a very easy and simple process to do earthing. If you know the full process of the electrical earthing then you can easily do copper plate earthing in a few easy steps.

Ready your instrument:  Before doing electrical earthing you need to connect the copper plate and copper strip with each other are shown in the image below. You can connect it with the help of holes and nut bolts.

Copper Strip

Copper Strip Bend: Now you need to bend the copper strip like the image you showed. Because, when you are doing an earthing plate then At that time the pit will be along the wall of your house.

Then at that time, you will need this band because when standing, our copper strips will come straight out of it, it will take a band towards the earth and again up towards the wall Will go straight Hence a band is found in it.

Note: If the wall is not found near the pit then you have no need to do the bend in the copper strip.

Steps of Copper Electrical Earthing

So, there are some steps that are useful for you before doing the electrical earthing. These all steps help you before the electrical earthing. Therefore remember the steps that are as follows:

Step 1: First of all clear the pit from extra unwanted or useless material like polythene bags or any other unwanted things. Now we will put the copper plate in the pit and apply some shocks or force there.

Because of the shock, our copper plate will go down. It will help for the right and proper electrical earthing.

Note: “Copper copper plate is always mounted vertically. It is never put in horizontally. Plate is mounted approximately 1 inch in the earth when we apply the force and sock in the copper plate”.

Step 2: Now you have to insert a pipe inside it. This pipe is used in the summer season when there is no moisture inside the ground, at that time the moisture is generated there by the water through this pipe.

Note: “While installing the pipe, it’s 50 mm away from the pit’s earth. It is very important. Attach the pipe with the Copper strip with the help of plastic tape or any other material like rope, etc”.

Step 3: Now we add the coal and salt mixture to the pit. After adding the mixture, settle the mixture around the copper plate. It is approximately 100mm in height and breadth from all sides.

Step 4: Add some water to it to provide moisture to the earth. It is important for plate earthing. The material that we add in the pit is Seattle in the proper way when we shrink the water in it.

Step 5: Now earthing is completed, after completing these four steps. Now add the soil to the pit. Fill the pot with the soil. But remember that the pipe is very important for the electrical earthing. You can use GI Pipe for the electrical earthing or PVC Pipe for this process.

Step 6: Add water near about 5ml in the pipe with the help of a water pipe. Now connect the one end of the wire to the copper strip. Now connect the second end of the wire to the house electricity main wire.
